About James Then
This blog is a personal web page and portfolio for myself. I am no master in traditional Eastern art,but I strive to be. I’m a screen printer, tattooer, painter, graphic designer, and web designer. I’m currently attending and finishing my senior year at CUNY City tech in Brooklyn, New York.
Studying Graphic arts I soon realized the disconnect between Graphic arts and fine arts. I started to shift my focus from Web + Graphic design (Commercial Art) to fine art (Painting + Tattooing). Another thing I found lacking, not so much in art but in general, and living in New York City is the lack of our own traditions and cultures. I feel that these aspects of our lives have been shedding away with each generation as we become more westernized and/or modernized. I want to preserve the beauty of my own culture and traditions through my art.
This blog is more than a portfolio as it is also my journal chronicling my achievements and work through my life.

dear friend , an interesting blog i am a gardener and an admirer of art i have dabbled a little myself , some graffiti in my youth and also life drawing, i also lived as a hare krsna and still have some lose affiliation with the movement. i have been searching around recently for tatoos that can commemorate that time . Your comment about a lack of culture really struck me. Saddly in the west we are without a proper Spiritual culture that is authorative , complete and can give guidance for the human condition. i humbley ask you read the literature of Srila Prabhupada who is the founding Guru of the hare krsna movement, you will find great depths of spiritual culture and a vast store of artistic inspiration which you are obviously interested in! , all glories to you, all glories to srila prabhupada
